IN HARM'S WAY
Lest we forget that which was done for us by God, "In Harm's Way" was conceived and painted. When Jesus goes after the lost, He does so regardless of the danger into which He is placed. He is much more than John 10:11. "I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep." The entirety of John, chapter 10 should be thoughtfully read.
It is by our own efforts to exalt the "self" that puts us "In Harm's Way".
In the presence of this futile ongoing attempt to have self-esteem in the world we separate ourselves from the flock. With the myriad of deceptions and seductions of self-aggrandizement, we are lured deeper into false hope where we rely on the power of wealth to solve our problems. It is not money that causes us to fail. It is our desire to have the "things" that sends us over the cliff. Some people descend the mountain cliff with stealth, some fall from lack of reason, some jump in despair. The reason doesn't matter. What does matter is that we pray for ourselves and all others that we might quickly see our situation and know that we need to create a partnership with God. Immediately we can choose to live as if in the presence of God. Do it now. There are many whom God would call on us to help rescue if we weren't "In Harm's Way" as well. Serve God with faith as well as intellect. Balance your life so that you will have skills upon which God can rely. All secular work can become holy. Serve the Kingdom with the skills you possess. Don't be deceived into coveting outwardly holy work. Always remember, our hands, His hands, our mind, His mind, our work, His work.
"In Harm's Way" is dedicated to the city of New York who on September 11, 2001 took a blow for the entire civilized world.
