Surely the sweet fragrance of being embraced by an angel of God cannot exceed the embrace of a small trusting child. There are men and women who would treat a stranger with great dignity if they thought him perhaps an angel unaware. Yet they might belittle, abuse, and withhold that same great dignity which should be bestowed on a being in which the Creator lives, a child. When in the course of human events we would exalt angels and ignore the Creator, we are stuck in a "feel good". Much of America is glorifying angels in television, art, literature, and music. The angels who glorify God are in shock that reverence is being directed towards them. Better to love, honor, & protect, our little ones than to be in awe of our fellow servants, the angels. Our spiritual cousins, though above us, are as infinitely below God as we are. They appreciate our fascination with their unseen good works on our behalf but wait patiently for our focus to return to God. They seek no reverence but ask instead that we re-direct that attention to our children and the children of the world. If we want to see them, then let us do their work alongside them.
